Clam Shell

The “Clam Shell” series is a family of PD blower packages from 3 to 20 HP with pressures to 15 PSI. The enclosure design makes service access fast with quick release latches and easy to lift top half. The weather proof design means it can be installed outdoors. A “clam shell” style sound attenuating enclosure constructed of sheet metal completely encases the blower.

A fully retractable hinged top allows fast and easy service access to the motor, blower, and drive. Steel panels provide a barrier to the noise and are lined with 1” acoustic grade open cell foam for absorbing and dissipating the noise energy. A gasket trim provides a tight seal where the top and bottom halves meet. The lid is secured with two flexible draw latches. The blower draws air through a louvered inlet opening, designed to provide proper air flow for cooling the enclosure. The panel mounted instrument group includes outlet pressure, discharge temperature, and inlet filter gauges.

For each model, proper blower selection is made by carefully considering bearing life, % of max. PSI, speed, temperature rise and noise level.

Motor nameplate HP is not exceeded even at relief valve settings. This leaves a 15% service factor for extra safety. All inlet and discharge losses of the filter, silencers and check valves are factored in the performance calculations.

Belt drives are designed for maximum belt life and minimum bearing load, with a service factor of 140 to 200 % used.
